Merry Christmas from TLHS

Our meeting schedule for 2017 has now finished and we'll start up again in the New Year.  We'll leave you with this extract from the Bolton Chronicle on Saturday 30th January 1836, about a Christmas party 180 years ago, at the Globe (now the Thomas Egerton).

CHRISTMAS PARTY

On Tuesday evening, a Christmas party, to the number of 180 persons, of both sexes, assembled at the house of Mr. Robert Edge, the Globe Inn, Turton.  A most excellent supper was served up on the occasion, by Mrs. Edge, and, on the cloth being drawn, singing and dancing commenced, and was kept up with great spirit to a late hour.
